Princesses, please
I got an e-mail early last week from someone I went to church with when we were little. She wanted a cake for her little one's birthday. She said her mom had told her I was doing cakes (not sure how her mom knew I was doing cakes...guess word travels) and that she had seen my Facebook page. She liked the princess cakes....just another sheet cake, but I thought it was cute.

Dr. A Cake
This summer when I was visiting my sister and her family in Columbia, SC, we visited a cupcake bakery in downtown. It was delicious! On the way home, my sister and I talked about me opening a real bakery one day and some of the things I would do. I came up with the idea of naming flavor combinations after the person who created it or someone I know who would love it. We came up with a few...
- The GP (in honor of my grandfather): yellow cake and chocolate fudge icing
- The Halliegator (in honor of my niece) : yellow cake and pink buttercream (with sprinkles!)
- The George (in honor of the cutest dalmatian around): white cake with vanilla chocolate chip buttercream...because it looks like him!
Here are some pictures that show the cake being made:
Yellow/fudge Marble Cake
Add a layer of Cream Cheese Icing
Sprinkle on some crushed Oreos
Repeat 3 times and end with the last layer of cake
Cover the entire thing with Cream Cheese Icing...as if what's between the layers isn't enough!
Some more crushed Oreos...
Add a border and a few more Oreos just for good measure... and you have The Dr. A Cake!
Hope someone is enjoying the cake tonight!

Finally back to baking!
So surgery was a little more complicated than I thought it would be and after 10 weeks of OT, I am back to baking. I have done a few batches of cupcakes (pretty easy on the decorating scale)...one batch for an OT who was moving on to her next rotation, one batch to take to a Tech tail-gate, and the last batch for my OT's birthday. I only took pictures of the last batch...my first time trying chocolate-peanut butter cupcakes. I may be biased, but I think they were pretty dang good!
I have also done 1 cake. I think it turned out well...considering it had been almost 4 months since my last cake! It was for baby shower for a teacher at school...her nursery theme is sail boats.

Perfect Yum! takes a vacation
I am recovering from surgery on my left wrist to repair a tear in my TFCC and to remove a cyst. No baking or cake decorating for me for awhile! I will let everyone know when I am back to baking!
